Vibhishana

Vibhīṣaṇa is the younger brother of Rāvaṇa and the righteous one among the rākṣasas of Laṅkā, who counselled the return of Sītā and, being refused and insulted, took refuge with Rāma; after the war Rāma gave him the kingdom of Laṅkā. In the Vaiṣṇava tradition he is a principal instance of taking refuge, having abandoned both kin and kingdom for dharma. The episode of his surrender is treated at length in the Rāmāyaṇa. At SB 2.7.45 he too, with Hanumān and other foremost devotees, is counted among those who know the divine māyā and cross beyond it.
